Why Use a Secure Document Storage Shredding Console?

Following the implementation of GDPR, the popularity of lockable paper shredding consoles in the workplace has increased enormously. A console is situated within an office environment and acts as an alternative to office shredders. These are supplied by Chaffinch as part of a regularly scheduled service, and included at no additional cost. Each console will hold up to 40KG of confidential waste, providing a secure, compliant location for documents awaiting destruction.

The document storage console is constructed from the same materials that the vast majority of office furniture is made from, and is designed to blend into every office environment. We offer consoles in a variety of finishes, with most customers choosing maple, beech or white to match their furniture. However, we are able to supply bespoke finishes, with over 100 possible colours available to suit every eventuality. We’ve supplied black consoles for specific events, red consoles to match a football club’s colours and walnut-coloured finishes to match a premium office specification.

Each console is freestanding, with a tamper-proof lock on the door. There is a letterbox-sized opening, with an internal guard board to prevent anyone reaching in to retrieve anything posted through. We can provide a number of keys to your authorised contacts so that any documents which put there incorrectly can be retrieved prior to shredding.

Inside each shredding console is a nylon sack which is suspended on 6 hooks. When it is time for our operatives to collect your shredding, they replace the sack inside and securely transport the contents to our depot for destruction.

The optimum number of consoles for your workplace can depend on a number of factors such as; industry, office layout, number of people and ongoing waste-streams. These factors then also determine the optimum frequency for your collections, however our most popular tend to be either every 4 weeks or every 2 weeks. We can always schedule more collections, or even fewer if required, as we know that in time, circumstances can change and the needs of your business will change.
